RECREATIONAL STREAM
We understand that not all students enrolling in performing arts classes are seeking competitive opportunities or a professional career. That’s why we established our Recreation Stream—to offer the foundational training of our studio in a safe, supportive environment for young performers who are passionate about the arts and want to train on a more recreational basis.
Our Classes
-
Jazz
Jazz is a high-energy dance form that combines Broadway, traditional, and commercial styles. Our classes focus on rhythmical accuracy and energy, incorporating turns, kicks, leaps, and technique. Students learn choreography to popular, age-appropriate music, fostering flexibility and strength while developing their unique dance style.
-
Tap
Tap is a vibrant dance style where dancers wear shoes with heel and toe taps to create audible beats, promoting rhythm, timing, and musicality in a fun and energetic way. Our students learn the ADA Theatre syllabus, with optional examinations, blending traditional tap techniques with modern rhythms to develop strength, timing, and stability in their upper body to enhance their quick footwork.
-
Ballet
Ballet serves as the technical foundation for all dance styles, making it an essential component of dance education. In our classes, students learn under the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus the correct posture and poise while enhancing muscle development, strength, flexibility, and turnout through the coordinated use of their arms, head, and legs.
-
Lyrical
Lyrical is a captivating dance genre that blends elements of ballet, jazz, and contemporary styles, creating a unique form of movement. This style emphasizes individual interpretation and emotional storytelling, allowing dancers to convey their feelings through movement. Rather than focusing solely on precision, lyrical prioritizes expressiveness, enabling dancers to connect deeply with the music while developing their technical skills and emotional communication.
-
Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a dynamic fusion of technical precision and raw movement, blending ballet techniques with expressive, flowing patterns. This genre encourages dancers to explore their individuality and express their emotions through movement, allowing for personal interpretation of choreography and enabling them to convey unique stories while connecting deeply with their bodies and the music.
-
Hip Hop
Hip Hop dance training is a vibrant and energetic genre that emphasizes self-expression and personal style. Rooted in street dance, it incorporates various styles such as breaking, locking, and popping. Our classes focus on rhythm, creativity, and body control, allowing students to explore their individuality through choreography set to popular music. Dancers also engage in freestyle opportunities, fostering confidence and groove while developing their unique hip hop style.
-
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre dance training combines the art of acting, singing, and dancing to create engaging performances. This genre emphasizes storytelling through movement and includes various styles such as jazz, tap, and ballet. Students develop essential performance skills, stage presence, and the ability to express character and emotion through choreography, preparing them for both on-stage and off-stage success.
-
Technique
Technique classes focus on developing essential dance skills through stretch, strength, and foundational work. Students engage in targeted exercises to enhance flexibility and muscle development, which are crucial for executing tricks, kicks, turns, and leaps with precision and control. This structured training lays the groundwork for advanced techniques, helping dancers improve their performance and confidence on stage while building the core skills needed to elevate their dance training.
-
Acro / Tumbling
We follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, which provides a structured progression for mastering essential techniques safely and effectively. Through engaging exercises, students build strength, flexibility, and balance while learning skills such as balances, rolls, and aerial tricks. This training fosters confidence and enhances overall dance performance, allowing students to express themselves through dynamic movements.
-
Extension Classes
Extension classes provide additional training for students looking to enhance their dance skills beyond the standard curriculum. Following the ADA Theatre syllabus, these classes focus on technical proficiency and artistic expression across various styles. Dedicated dancers can sit for examinations to validate their progress, while extension classes offer opportunities for growth, creativity, and performance readiness, ensuring a well-rounded dance education.
